Blue Light
A part of visible light spectrum comprised of wavelengths between 380 to 500 nanometers.
With prolonged exposure, it can cause irreversible oxidative damages to the eye.
Blue light, like other colors of visible light, is all around you.
The sun emits blue light. So do fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs.
Human beings are exposed to more blue light than ever because of the widespread use of devices that rely on light-emitting diode (LED) technology.
Computer and laptop screens, flat-screen televisions, cell phones, and tablets all use LED technologies with high amounts of blue light.
Dangers of Blue Light:
**Visual Fatigue
The short wavelength of blue light can make the eyes unable to focus normally but be in a state of tension for a long time.
**Sleep Interference
Blue light inhibits the production of melatonin, an important hormone that interferes with sleep, and overuse your phone before sleeping can lead to difficulty in falling asleep or poor sleep quality.
**Eye Diseases
Long-time exposure to HEV light may lead to photochemical damage of the retina, increasing the risk of visual impairment, cataract and macular degeneration over time.
How to cut the blue light with lenses:
Blue light Cut Lens by Coating – BLC AR+
- A unique anti-reflective coating which cuts out harmful blue violet light
- Provides visual comfort
- Enhances contrast and reduces glare
- Clear and sharper vision
- Reduces stress on eyes caused by constant refocusing
Options:
a) Coating with color Blue- coating reduces blue light by 20% at 380nm ~500nm entering your eyes while using digital devices. Cut 20% between 380nm to 500nm.
b) Coating with color Purple- coating reduces blue light by 10% at 380nm ~500nm) with comfortable coating color that suitable for all day use coating. Cut 10% between 380nm to 500nm.
Blue Light Cut Lens by Material – Hi UV
Block harmful light in the 380-420nm part of the spectrum in addition to UV, but mostly cut around UV405nm.
Hi UV420 Ophthalmic lens material that helps protect eyes from not only ultraviolet (380-400nm) light rays but also 400nm-420nm wavelength light.
There are Clear lenses and photochromic gray lenses with UV420 for prescription surfacing.
Blue Light Cut Lens by Tint – BLC Tint
Tints is available to make blue light cut rate at Doctors’ request. There are Brown and Green available.
It’s usually reserved for eye diseases.
RX Optical lens with Blue Light Cut by Tints for applicable User:
*People with Cataract surgery
*Age-related Macular Degeneration
*Retinal cell damage
*Special prescription for Medical use
2 in 1 – Hi UV (Material) with blue blocker AR+ (coating) is the maximum protection.
